4th Grade Treble Clef Testing

The 4th graders are busy learning the lines and spaces of the treble clef.  Each student was given a set of flash cards  to help them prepare for the test. Students will have five minutes to finish 60 problems. I will take the best score of three tests. If they get 100% on the 60 problem test they get to try a longer test with 96 problems. This is a challenge as they will have the same five minutes to complete the longer test.  Success on the tests will help them as we continue playing recorders and help build a foundation for future music endeavors in the secodary schools. 4th grade parents if you could please remind them to study that would be very helpful.

Kindergarten Music Program

The Kindergarten music program “Gettin' Down Again With Mama Goose” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4 in the Langston Hughes gym. Students will need to report at 6:15 p.m. to their classrooms. Students may wear nice dress clothes.
Each student was given a CD for at home practice. This will help the students with memorization as they do not have music class every day. Any questions please email srobinso@usd497.org.
Thanks for your help and support! Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Demasio

5th Grade Music Program

The 5th Grade Music Program "We Haz Jazz" will be presented Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Langston Hughes Gym.  Students will need to report at 6:45 p.m. to their classroom.  Students may dress in black or white clothing.

I am sending home CD's and a word sheet for each to student to practice with at home.  This will help with memorization of the words as I do not see them daily for rehearsals.  If you do not have a CD player you can download it onto an MP3 player or you can also play it on your computer.

If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks for all your help and support.

4th Grade Recorder Orders

The 4th grade students will be using recorders in music class this year. Because recorders are a popular item to own, I will be sending in an order to purchase recorders.  This is not a requirement as we do have recorders provided in music class. If you buy a recorder it will be yours to keep for home practice.  This is helpful for students who have problems remembering to bring their recorder back to school for music class.
These are high quality recorders that are offered to me at a special teacher discount of $5.50 a piece.
I have sent a order form with students this past week.  Please fill out the order form and return the money or check in an envelope to Mrs. Robinson by Friday, September 20. Please make checks out to Langston Hughes Elementary.
